FIABCI Hungarian Prix d’Excellence
The FIABCI Hungarian Prix d’Excellence has been established by FIABCI Hungary in 1997. Founded in 1951 in Paris, FIABCI has been active in over 60 countries of the world as an association of notable real estate experts. With its several ten thousand professional members, FIABCI operates a fully-fledged global network embracing all fields of the real estate industry. FIABCI Hungary was established in 1992 and has been actively participating in the work of the mother organisation ever since. FIABCI organises the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence – a set of international awards rewarding merit – every year since 1992, in liaison with the Wall Street Journal. FIABCI Hungary has established the Hungarian Real Estate Development Award primarily with a view to facilitate the participation of Hungarian real estate developers in FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence. With this in mind, the jury of the Hungarian Award is assessing the projects according to the criteria of the international competition. It examines inter alia the overall concept, the merits of architecture, technical quality, implementation, level of economy and efficiency, environmental impact as well as community benefits, i.e. how the project serves the interests of its environment and improves living conditions. A basic principle is that it is not the size but the quality of the facility that matters. This is a competition where David can indeed defeat Goliath. The Hungarian Real Estate Development Award is supported by a number of professional organisations. The 400 projects entered during the 20 years of the Award represent the best achievements since the introduction of the market economy and demonstrate the development of the sector and the changes of trends in Hungary. It is really welcome that more and more settlements enter the competition so it has become less Budapest centered by now. Every year, the Award attracts entries of highest quality proving that Hungarian developers perform at best standards. Even the projects which were not selected to be winners in this tight competition represent outstanding achievement because the builders involved create superb facilities, contributing to the renewal of the settlements by them. Entries include private investments, priority public investments and developments launched by municipalities as well. The success of development projects targeted at the conservation of architectural heritage should also be noted. International successes demonstrate the excellent quality of the work of Hungarian real estate developers, architects and contractors. Since the first Award, winners of the Hungarian competition have won 22 gold and 30 silver awards at FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence. We are confident that the winners of the jubilee Award this year will preserve these excellent traditions.
